Diary 21-27 Nov 17

Wed 23rd: Head up from Heriot to Banchory to visit Heather at her base in Woodend Barn Arts Centre.  It’s thanks to her and funding from  Creative Producers project at Creative Scotland, I can continue the experiment till March. Predictive text on my phone once ‘corrected’ Banchory to Banchirpy, which is a good correction. The Barn is a really friendly place which has been on the go on a voluntary basis for 25 years and which has now secured funding for a small professional team to take it forward.

Two years ago I saw a dance piece ‘Journey’ there as part of Luminate Festival of Creative Ageing. Koen de Preter was a 31-year-old Belgian choreographer and performer, Alphea Pouget an 87-year-old dancer and pedagogue. In the piece they journey from being strangers to being lovers linked by a shared passion to dance till the end of their days. Amazing.

Soil Microbes and Mental Health

Research  in Gardening Knowhow indicating that there may be naturally occurring antidepressants in soil which we inhale, ingest and absorb through the skin when gardening.  I wonder if this is why I hate wearing gloves when gardening?  Thanks Ruth 🙂
