Wed 23rd: Head up from Heriot to Banchory to visit Heather at her base in Woodend Barn Arts Centre. It’s thanks to her and funding from Creative Producers project at Creative Scotland, I can continue the experiment till March. Predictive text on my phone once ‘corrected’ Banchory to Banchirpy, which is a good correction. The Barn is a really friendly place which has been on the go on a voluntary basis for 25 years and which has now secured funding for a small professional team to take it forward.
Two years ago I saw a dance piece ‘Journey’ there as part of Luminate Festival of Creative Ageing. Koen de Preter was a 31-year-old Belgian choreographer and performer, Alphea Pouget an 87-year-old dancer and pedagogue. In the piece they journey from being strangers to being lovers linked by a shared passion to dance till the end of their days. Amazing.
